Bling It On: Individualising Your Car With Accessories

I'm Rick, and I'm in my early twenties. I have six older brothers, and we are all car crazy! Fortunately, my parents live on a few hectares, so we have somewhere to store the cars we are constantly refurbishing. Whilst some guys like buying really old cars and doing them up, I prefer to buy cars that are in reasonable condition and bling them up with accessories. From floor mats to navigation systems, I always keep my eyes open for anything new and interesting. Many of my friends bring their new cars to me for ideas about how to personalise them. I am usually able to give suggestions and direct them to the best suppliers. I realise that many others out there may be looking for ways to express their individuality through car accessories. I hope you find some inspiration within these pages. Please drive through!

What Are the Different Types of Mufflers?

Vehicle owners are aware of the importance of mufflers because they are a crucial part of a car's exhaust system. It is good for silencing the noise produced by the combustion chamber. Since this is the case, a couple of emissions are carbon monoxide, nitrogen monoxide and nitrogen oxide. The emissions have to exit the exhaust system to make the car safe for passengers. Mufflers are better for the environment and improve the fuel efficiency of a car. Find out what the different types are below.

Multiple Baffle

With this kind of muffler, the gas from the exhaust exits through the punched holes in the silencer tube's walls.

Louvered Bullet

Louvered bullet mufflers lessen engine flow noise by using louvers, which trap some sounds that are produced. The perforated bullet kind allows the dispersal of sound waves, but it does not reduce noise.

Performance Mufflers

Performance mufflers have a higher price but are more efficient in filtering gases. They are aftermarket products, but not standard. In some instances, cars run more efficiently with better power. This one has a wider exhaust pipe, which reduces pressure to increase engine performance. Not a lot of people are open to investing money in performance mufflers.

Silence Inlets

This kind of muffler will depend on the kind of exhaust system your car has. In case you have the standard system, it is necessary to read through the manual and get the car details. If you will purchase an exhaust system, check which inlet is going to work with your car model. You can ask for advice from your car mechanic about this.

Full-Case Mufflers

There are the single-chamber full-case mufflers that have baffles wrapped around the muffler's exterior. There is the dual chamber that has a division inside with two sections connected on all ends. In terms of noise reduction, these mufflers provide more efficiency compared to the bullet but still has good engine performance.

Turbo Mufflers

The turbo mufflers have a path that has the shape of an S, which lets gas enter the muffler before it is forced out through the tube. These mufflers are restrictive, and the gas flow may be poor.

When you are looking at new mufflers, you need to consider the factors that each of them has. You need to make sure that the muffler you are getting is compatible with your car. Speak to a mechanic for more information.
